ZEN PM Review Summary
ZEN PM isn’t a bad sleeping supplement, it just isn’t a particularly good one either. Its formula is really underwhelming – we get a minimum effective dose of theanine, a fairly good dose of melatonin, and that’s about it. There’s some magnesium, but not a lot when you realize a lot of the listed 100mg is citrate. Hardly a revolutionary stack.
The fact that theanine is the main ingredient is always a little off-putting to us. Theanine is a very effective sleep enhancer, but you can get plenty from natural sources. You also need a sizable dose (400mg, give or take) to get significant returns. Overall, ZEN PM does not strike us as a particularly impressive supplement. Much better value can be found elsewhere.
Where To Buy ZEN PM
Like all Jacked Factory products, ZEN PM can be bought from the official JF online store.
Detailed ZEN PM Sleep Aid Review
Most of you will have heard of Jacked Factory by now. We aren’t sure how these guys started out exactly; whether they began as a fitness website and morphed into a supplement manufacturer, or if they simply started out as most others did – with a simple line of products and a vision. However they started, they have grown from a small manufacturer of bodybuilding supplements into an industry heavyweight.
They make all the usual suspects: pre-workouts, protein powders, joint support stacks, and with the launch of ZEN PM, a dedicated sleeping aid.
So what is this supplement offering?
Who is it supposedly designed for?
For starters, if you look at the front of the bottle, you’ll see that Jacked Factory have given us some specific promises with regards to what users can expect from ZEN PM:
- Supports relaxation
- Enhances sleep
- Promotes deep sleep
- Improves mood
The Jacked Factory ZEN PM website also tells us that this product aids muscle recovery. If this does indeed induce deeper sleep, then it will also aid muscle recovery.
Nobody grows muscle in the gym – your muscles may look bigger, but that’s all blood. It is during sleep that your body begins to repair damaged muscle tissue, hopefully rebuilding it stronger than before. And it is during the deepest stages of sleep that most of the rebuilding gets done.
So any sleep supplement that promotes deep sleep will enhance muscle recovery.
All of this sounds great to us. If ZEN PM can really give us all of these amazing benefits, then we’ll have a truly amazing sleep aid on our hands here.
So does it work?
Can ZEN PM really do all of these things?
Does it have any serious side effect risks?
Is it competitive? How does it compare to the best sleep aids available today?
Let’s find out, shall we? Below you will find a comprehensive examination of the ZEN PM formula. We look at the ingredients, the serving sizes, and the risks involved. At the end, we’ll tell you whether or not we’d recommend this stack to anyone looking to improve their sleeping pattern.
Jacked Factory ZEN PM Formula
Check out the ZEN PM formula:
That’s not a bad formula at all, but it definitely isn’t very interesting.
It certainly doesn’t look like it stands a chance of delivering the same kind of improvements as you’ll get from other, more comprehensive sleep supplements.
There are great ingredients here. But one of them is dosed at the bare minimum level.
Overall, this isn’t a bad stack, but it isn’t very good either.
- Good ingredients
ZEN PM isn’t a bad natural sleep aid at all. We think it will help a lot of people fall asleep with much greater ease and it should increase the quality of their sleep.
For one thing, it contains some excellent, scientifically-proven ingredients.
Theanine, for example, has been shown in multiple robust clinical trials to effectively reduce sleep latency, improve mood, reduce anxiety, and improve the perceived quality of sleep.
This study found that theanine was able to significantly increase perceived relaxation in healthy men aged 18-30. The study concluded: “The results of this study suggest that L-theanine containing tablets promote the release of alpha waves related to mental relaxation and concentration in young adult males.”
This has direct carry-over benefits to sleep. This trial is a case in point. Here, researchers found that “the administration of 200 mg of L-theanine before bed may support improved sleep quality not by sedation but through anxiolysis”. So L-Theanine makes you feel relaxed, which in turn promotes deep, restful sleep. Importantly for us, it doesn’t sedate you – it just makes you calm, relaxed, and ready for slumber.
We get 200mg of theanine from ZEN PM, which is the lowest dose used in any available clinical trials.
- Theanine not a stack-leader at 200mg
- 5-HTP not effective for supplementation
- No tryptophan
Despite having some good ingredients, we wont be recommending this stack to our readers. There are several problems here that seem small but which in reality combine to make a relatively poor value sleep supplement.
For one thing, theanine shouldn’t be the main active ingredient in a sleeping aid if it isn’t dosed accordingly.
We only get 200mg of theanine per serving here. Most of the studies showing the greatest effects from theanine supplementation with regards to sleep have used 400mg per day. As theanine is really the “engine” of this stack, we would have expected Jacked Factory to go hard with it.
After all, 400mg of this commonplace, readily available amino acid is not a lot to ask for (although doubling the dose would undoubtedly hurt their bottom line).
There’s also no tyrptophan in here, which is a serious drawback for a natural sleep aid as far as we’re concerned.
Like theanine, this stuff is fairly easy to get hold of (in its simple form at least), and it has the potential to deliver immense improvements in sleep quality.
Neglecting to add it to your stack is a big mistake.
Instead, Jacked Factory have decided to add 5-HTP. This is amino acid is a building block for the neurotransmiter serotonin.
The logic goes that if you supplement 5-HTP, then your brain can break it down and you get more serotonin. As a result, your happiness levels go up and your anxiety levels go down.
The only problem with this is that 5-HTP isn’t very conducive to oral supplementation. A lot of it seems to be metabolized and excreted, particularly when it is consumed in the presence of B6.
Not the most effective way to increase serotonin, and certainly not the most effective way to go about improving sleep quality through anxiolysis.
ZEN PM Side Effects
On the side effects front, ZEN PM looks great.
Jacked Factory have gone for simplicity here, and that usually translates into a reasonable side effect risk profile. ZEN PM is not exception.
We have just 3 ingredients here.
They are all extremely popular natural supplements. They are used in a variety of products for a range of different purposes.
They have all been extensively studied and found to be safe for 99% of people, even for long-term, frequent use.
There are a few things that you need to remember. It is absolutely vital that you consider your own circumstances, do your own research, and always consult a qualified health professional before using these supplements.

Don’t try to treat chronic insomnia with sleeping supplements, even if they are 100% natural. If you have a serious sleep disorder then you need help from a doctor. These conditions can get serious if left untreated!
Final Verdict – Jacked Factory ZEN PM Sleep Aid – Should You Use It?
Not a bad supplement at all. It is just not a particularly good one either – a safe, pretty boring stack if truth be told.
We have some good ingredients in ZEN PM. Theanine is a proven sleep aid, and of course melatonin is going to help get you back into a healthy sleeping pattern.
But a minimum effective dose of theanine and some melatonin doesn’t really grab us.
The other ingredient, 5-HTP, doesn’t convince us either. Lots of people think it is a great mood booster, but we believe that much of it just gets excreted.
The quality of the ingredients is standard, and the main ingredient – the one that should be doing all the legwork – is dosed as low as we would ever expect to see it.
In a stack of just 3 ingredients, that’s a big mistake!
Many people will benefit from using this product. We just don’t think it is the best possible choice no matter what your own specific goals are. Nobody should opt for lower quality ingredients or poor value for money when better alternatives are there.
