Brain Performance Review Summary
This nootropic doesn’t have a well balanced formula at all. The majority of the ingredients are just simple vitamins and minerals – the kind you’ll get from any generic store-bought multivitamin supplement. Re-Age have only included four ‘interesting’ ingredients. One of these ingredients has no effect on cognitive function whatsoever. Another has very limited effects. The final two are dosed all wrong. Basically, there’s not a lot that Re-Age have got right here!
Ginkgo biloba is a great natural nootropic. But using more than 100mg is just pointless in our opinion. You get diminishing returns above about 80mg, and added benefits stop completely beyond 120mg. That Re-Age have included 240mg of the stuff is straight up wasteful. On the other hand, we don’t get anywhere near enough Phosphatidylserine! Why have they only included 35mg of this wonderful brain booster?! All in all, this is a poor quality supplement. If you’re looking for help staying focused or some long-term memory support, Re-Age Brain Performance is not a very good choice.
Where To Buy Brain Performance
Re-Age Brain Performance is sold both through the manufacturer’s online store and through Amazon.
Full Re-Age Brain Performance Review
Re-Age Brain Performance is a brand new nutritional supplement marketed as a cognitive enhancer. We wren’t familiar with Re-Age before now, but by the looks of the website it’s quite a serious manufacturer. They’re based in Germany, although they clearly ship worldwide. The range on offer is pretty extensive and varied; they have everything from hangover pills to nicotine patches! They seem to focus on general health and well being supplements – for the time being at least.
So what is Brain Performance supposed to do exactly?
Who is it designed for? Who is it supposed to help?
The box itself doesn’t really tell us much. It simply states that the product “supports mental performance and cognition”. It wouldn’t be much of a nootropic if it didn’t!
The website gives us a bit more detail about what we can expect:
- Increased concentration
- Enhanced alertness
- Better memory function
- Greater ability to stay intensely focused for long periods of time
That looks great to us. There’s nothing over the top of unrealistic here. A well formulated nootropic stack can deliver on all these fronts and then some.
There’s no real mention of neuroplasticity or long-term brain development. There’s also not much mention of reduced anxiety. But not every stack needs to be a complete, full-spectrum supplement. You can be an excellent cognitive enhancer without these properties.
The question we need to answer is, how much of this is true and how much is just a sales pitch?
Does Re-Age Brain Performance really work?
How does it compare to the best nootropics on the market today?
Is it safe? What are the main side effect risks?
Find out by reading our full Brain Performance review below. We’ll take a much closer look at the formula than other reviewers; are the serving sizes right? Do the ingredients have solid scientific backing? Could it be better? We’ll also discuss the main health risks, as well as value for money. AT the end, we’ll tell you whether or not we’d recommend this brain supplement to our readers. Please post any comments or questions at the end!
Brain Performance Formula
Let’s check out the formula and see what’s really going on with this stack:
That’s not what we would call a quality nootropic formula.
Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Most of the formula is just a vitamin and mineral blend. This is not unlike a standard multivitamin you can buy from a supermarket for a few dollars. There’s certainly nothing special about it.
Re-Age have only included five ingredients we’ll call ‘interesting’. By that we mean ingredients that aren’t just vitamins and minerals.
Of these five, only three have real, verified, significant nootropic properties.
The other two are pretty much useless in our opinion. They don’t have noticeable effects and they aren’t very reliable.
Even the three effective ingredients have issues. One is dosed far too high, while the other two are seriously under-dosed!
Overall, this isn’t a good formula. Re-Age have not balanced this formula well, and they’ve gone with really underwhelming ingredients. It could be made a lot better by throwing in a powerful cholinergic and ditching the dead weight.
Let’s discuss this in a little more detail!
Main Problem – Best Ingredients Are Seriously Under-Dosed
The biggest disappointment with the Re-Age Brain Performance formula is the fact that it does contain some really good cognitive enhancers, but it gets the doses all wrong!
For example, it does contain Phosphatidylserine.
For us, this is one of the best natural nootropics in existence. Phosphatidylserine is one of the main constituents of your brain cell membranes. You need it to make new neurons, and you need it to get rid of old brain cells at the end of their life (it triggers apoptosis by moving from the inside to the outside of the cell – learn more).
Obviously, this isn’t something you want to be chronically low in. The brain can synthesize its own phosphatidylserine (PS) of course, but supplementation has been shown to support healthy cognitive function over the long term.
For instance, in this study, researchers found that 100mg of PS administered every day was able to improve cognitive function in people with age-associated memory loss relative to placebo. The researchers noted that “there was improvement on both computerized and standard neuropsychological performance tests, and also on clinical global ratings of improvement.”
The problem is that every study showing that PS works well has used 100mg or more per day.
Re-Age Brain Performance only gives us 35mg of PS per serving.
That’s not going to be enough to make a meaningful difference to your brain function!
If you’re interested in optimizing mental performance and guaranteeing good memory function as you age, adding some PS into the mix is a good idea. Just make sure you’re getting 100-150mg per day if you want to see a real difference.
That’s not the only offender here.
Re-Age Brain Performance also contains Choline Bitartrate, but again the dose is WAY too low for a premium focus supplement!
Every focus enhancer needs to have some choline content. We recommend using a potent cholinergic like Citicoline or Alpha-GPC. These substances are the most efficient way to raise choline levels in the brain, which in turn raises acetylcholine availability. They cross the blood-brain barrier easily, which means you don’t have to take a great deal to get results.
These compounds also provide peripheral benefits like enhanced brain cell membrane formation, but our main concern is the increase in focus and information processing they give us.
Choline bitartrate is less potent than these compounds, but it still works. You just have to use more to get the same effect.
We recommend using about 300mg of choline bitartrate as a minimum. Many stacks provide 450mg, while some go as high as 500mg.
Re-Age Brain Performance contains 75mg.
That is an absolutely pathetic dose.
You are not going to see serious increases in learning speed or mental clarity with 75mg of choline bitatrate.
Major Problem – Dud Ingredients/Lots of Dead Weight!
The other big problem with this supplement is the fact that it contains ingredients that don’t actively contribute to enhanced cognitive function.
This isn’t always a massive problem. Some dead weight is excusable if the rest of the formula is top notch. But Re-Age Brain Performance only contains four ‘interesting’ ingredients. It really can’t afford to have half of these just sat there doing nothing for your cognitive function!
The ingredients we’re talking about are Acetyl-L-Carnitine and Griffonia Extract.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine, also known as ALCAR, is a simple amino acid. It is sometimes used as a sports supplement because it facilitates energy metabolism. However, when people use it to boost energy in the gym, they tend to use about 600mg and up. There’s no point using less than about 500mg – it just doesn’t hit the body very hard!
Even if there were lots of the stuff though, it wouldn’t help us out. ALCAR doesn’t have a meaningful – or even noticeable – effect on cognitive function.
It actually doesn’t do much of anything!
Griffonia Extract is used because of its 5-HTP content. You’re probably aware that 5-HTP is used because it is a precursor to serotonin; one of your main “feel-good” neurotransmitters.
We don’t believe that supplementing with 5-HTP works as many people imagine it will. It isn’t readily absorbed by the gut, and when it is, it is largely used up by the enteric nervous system (learn more).
So supplementing with 5-HTP isn’t going to have a dramatic effect on your anxiety levels or your mood – not in our opinion at least! Taking an extract from this woody climbing plant is therefore a waste of time.
So that’s pretty much half of the Re-Age Brain Performance formula (the formula that matters) dedicated to ineffective, weak ingredients.
We don’t like wasting our money on dead weight, and neither should you!
Side Effects – Is Brain Performance Safe?
We can’t see anything in here that gives us serious cause for concern as far as side effects go.
Most of the formula is just vitamins and minerals. The doses there are all within normal ranges for multivitamin supplements.
The other ingredients are really unremarkable – that’s actually the problem with this supplement!
They are all widely used ingredients in nootropic supplements today.
They’ve all been thoroughly tested, and they are considered generally safe for human consumption.
The only thing we wold point out is the large Ginkgo Biloba dose.
Ginkgo biloba works by dilating your blood vessels. This allows for more oxygen to be delivered to your brain cells.
However, if you have some kind of pre-existing condition or you’re at a greater risk of stroke, you DO NOT want to be playing around with your blood vessels like that.
This is a particular concern as we have an unusually large dose of Ginkgo here; the 240mg we get from Brain Performance is a lot more than the standard dose of 75mg we see used in most stacks.
Bare that in mind and talk to your doctor before using this stack to make sure you aren’t putting your health at risk! Be sure to mention the Ginkgo biloba content in particular!
We are not doctors and this is not medical advice. We have no idea what your medical history is like, so we can’t tell you that a supplement is safe for you. All we can do is highlight the main dangers for the average user based on our experience and research. It is really important that you do the following things before you buy any nootropics: If you experience any side effects whatsoever while using this stack, discontinue and seek urgent medical attention.

Re-Age Brain Performance Conclusion – A Good Nootropic?
This is a very poor natural brain supplement in our opinion.
The formula is largely taken up by vitamins and minerals that will have a negligible impact on cognition.
We only have four really interesting ingredients. Of these, three have nootropic properties. But they still aren’t going to make a big difference to your mental performance; two are seriously under-dosed, and the other one is dosed ridiculously high.
The other ingredients are just dead weight that you’re wasting good money on.
Re-Age Brain Performance isn’t a scam or anything like that. It doesn’t look dangerous either. But it isn’t a potent, effective nootropic. It certainly doesn’t look like it can deliver the same kind of benefits you can expect from some of the more professional nootropics out there right now.
If you want to see a real difference in your concentration, mental energy levels and memory function over the long-term, you’re going to have to use a more focused and powerful supplement than this one. Check out our current top rated nootropics and see how different they are to this mediocre product.
