Many of you will have heard of the Qualia 2-step stack; a two part supplement we reviewed on this site some time ago. Well, Qualia Mind is a kind of new and improved version of this extremely popular nootropic.
The formula is enormous, but considering its size there is very little dead weight here. High quality, scientifically proven brain boosters abound. The doses are good. Unlike the original Qualia, there’s no synthetic brain drugs either.
The presence of Huperzine A is the only real problem – we don’t like having to cycle on and off our daily stacks. There are also ways it could be significantly improved. But overall, this is a solid focus and memory supplement.
Where To Buy Qualia Mind
Qualia Mind can be purchased from the official NeuroHacker Collective website.
Full Qualia Mind Review
We don’t need to tell you that Qualia is one of the most popular nootropics on the market.
The Neurohacker Collective burst onto the scene a couple of years ago with their original Qualia stack; a two-part supplement designed to address every aspect of cognitive function.
We reviewed the stack at the time. Despite having A LOT of raw horsepower, it had several problems – enormous price tag, ingredients that may cause serious side effects, and the need for constant cycling.
Well, the Neurohacker Collective are back with the recently released Qualia Mind!
How is this nootropic different to the original Qualia stack? Is it an improvement or a step backwards?
What is it supposed to do, exactly?
Qualia Mind is a single-part, all-in-one nootropic stack designed for daily use.
According to the official website, Qualia Mind is designed to improve every conceivable aspect of cognition:
- Promotes focus
- Improves mood
- Increases energy
- Promotes mental clarity
- Enhances memory
- Supports creativity
That is one ambitious nootropic. While it is difficult for a supplement to claim to support creativity directly, some nootropics enhance neural interconnectivity, which could be said to be the bedrock of creativity.
In any case, it is clear that Qualia Mind aims to be a comprehensive, all-encompassing brain supplement.
Just take a look at some of the visuals on the Neurohacker Collective website regarding Qualia Mind:
Few nootropic supplements today are so ambitious in the depth or breadth of what they are trying to achieve.
All this sounds amazing.
But how much of it is true, and how much is just empty marketing spiel?
Does Qualia Mind do all of the things that the makers say it can?
Is it an improvement on the original Qualia stack?
Is it safe? What are the main side effect risks?
What are other users saying about it?
In the full Qualia Mind review below, we’ll answer all of these questions in as much detail as possible. Please post any questions you might have in the comments section at the end. We endeavor to reply within 48 hours.
Qualia Mind Formula
Let’s take a look at the most important thing; the Qualia Mind formula:
This is a very complex formula, full of interesting ingredients.
But right away we can already see that this is a significant improvement on the original Qualia stack.
For one thing, the stack is not split into two parts – an unnecessary complication in our opinion.
There are fewer ingredients, but there is a lot less dead weight and far fewer potential health risks.
We have several high quality nootropics in here, and the doses are very generous across the board.
Extract quality is excellent too.
However, there are several areas in which Qualia Mind could improve.
We still have some dead weight in here – ingredients that offer no significant nootropic enhancements. Such substances have no place in a daily nootropic stack like Qualia Mind.
You also still need to cycle Qualia Mind on and off – a big drawback in a daily stack. Especially one containing ingredients that need consistent use to get going.
Let’s get into this in more detail.
What We Like – Quality Ingredients
The biggest strength of Qualia Mind is without question the quality of the ingredients used.
Qualia Mind contains several of the most effective natural nootropics in existence.
It offers a unique combination of these ingredients, and the quality of the extracts is impeccable.
For example, each serving of Qualia Mind contains 150mg of Cognizin Citicoline. This is a branded form of CDP-Choline, which is perhaps the most effective cholinergic on the market.
A cholinergic is a compound which confers choline to the brain. This in turn leads to higher levels of acetylcholine; the ‘learning’ neurotransmitter.
CDP-Choline has been shown to directly increase focus, improve reaction times, and enhance cognitive function generally.
We geneally like to see a little more than 150mg in a premium stack like this, but that isn’t a problem here.
The only compound that comes close to CDP-Choline in terms of effectiveness is Alpha-GPC…and Qualia Mind contains that too!
Each 7 capsule serving provides 200mg of Alpha-GPC as well as 150mg of CDP-Choline.
That’s 350mg of high powered cholinergics per serving!
You can’t really do better than this if you’re trying to improve clarity, focus, and processing speeds.
That is a major check mark for Qualia Mind.
Some of you may be wondering – if CDP-Choline is so great, why not just use a higher dose of that and drop the Alpha-GPC altogether? Excellent question. While CDP-Choline and Alpha-GPC have the same primary function, boosting acetylcholine levels, they have very different secondary properties. We refer to these as ‘peripheral’ benefits. To learn about the subtle differences between CDP-Choline and Alpha-GPC, check out our detailed ingredient guide.

You’ll also notice that the Qualia Mind formula contains 100mg of Phosphatidylserine.
If you look closely, you’ll see that it is Sharp-PS. This is a branded form of Phosphatidylserine, and it is of extremely high quality.
PS is quite a standard ingredient for a modern daily nootropic.
But very few stacks use Sharp-PS, because quite simple, very few manufacturers care this much about the providence of their ingredients.
The 100mg of PS we get here is enough to support long-term brain cell maintenance and functionality.
What We Like – Unique Combination
Another major positive for Qualia Mind is that it utilizes ingredients that we rarely see in nootropic stacks.
Rarity is not a quality in and of itself.
After all, many substances are rarely used because they are garbage!
But in Qualia Mind we see a couple of very interesting and effective brain boosters that so often go unused.
For example, Qualia Mind is one of the few stacks to contain a good serving of Uridine Monophosphate.
As discussed in the linked substance guide, Uridine Monophosphate is potentially an effective focus and memory enhancer.
One interesting property of UMP is its ability to boost phosphatide levels in the brain. Phosphatides are the main component of synaptic membranes.
Giving your brain more of the raw materials it needs to build synapse membrances is a sure-fire way to support long-term brain functionality.
Since the degredation of synapses is a potential cause of age-related cognitive decline, then mitigating against this process could go a long way to lessening its symptoms.
The 250mg of UMP Disodium we get from Qualia Mind is a hefty dose indeed.
What We Don’t Like – You Need To Cycle It!
One of the biggest problems with the original Qualia stack was the fact that you need to cycle it.
Well, the same is true of Qualia Mind.
The reason you need to cycle it is due to the presence of Huperzine A.
People use Huperzine A for the same reason that they use CDP-Choline; to raise acetylcholine levels in the brain.
However, Huperzine A works in reverse, so to speak.
Rather than boosting production of acetylcholine, Huperzine A simply prevents it from being broken down and removed. It does this by inhibiting the formation of the enzyme responsible for this – acetylcholinesterase.
By inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, Huperzine A causes a slow build-up of acetylcholine in the brain.
But while higher acetylcholine levels are good, removing the brain’s ability to regulate these levels comes with problems. The build-up can eventually become a problem if it reaches excessive levels. Side effects can include:
- Loss of focus
- Muscle cramps
- Brain fog
You therefore need to take regular breaks from Huperzine A to allow your acetylcholine levels to drop back to within their normal range.
So what’s the problem?
Well, ingredients such as CDP-Choline, Bacopa monnieri, and Rhodiola rosea only work properly when taken consistently over a long period of time.
Bacopa monnieri in particular takes a while to kick in – perhaps 6-12 weeks of regular supplementation.
Having to take a 7-10 day break every 3 weeks is therefore not ideal.
It significantly lessens the effectiveness of the stack as a whole.
What We Don’t Like – Dead Weight
The need for cycling is the biggest systemic weakness of Qualia Mind.
But the presence of ineffective ingredients is also a problem for us.
The bulk of the formula is good, sure.
But waste is waste, and we don’t like paying for substances that give us none of the benefits we’re looking for in a nootropic.
For example, each serving of Qualia Mind contains 100mg of Mucuna Puriens.
This tropical bean is often found in various natural supplements – most commonly in natural steroid alternatives for aspiring bodybuilders.
This is because it is thought to boost protein synthesis, increase steroid hormone production, and so on. We aren’t experts in this field, but we believe that there is good reason to believe that it doesn’t work in this way.
More worryingly for us, Mucuna Puriens is not thought to have any nootropic properties whatsoever.
There is no evidence that it can enhance mood, memory, attention span, or mental energy.
We can’t even find any anecdotal evidence for Mucuna Puriens as a nootropic – there’s no forum chatter or personal experiences backing this one up.
We don’t know why it is in Qualia Mind at all.
We also have a large serving of Carnitine in Qualia Mind.
In fact, the 500mg assigned to Carnitine makes it the joint largest ingredient in this stack.
This is disappointing.
Carnitine is an amino acid found in great abundance in the human diet. As such, it is relatively benign when consumed in supplemental quantities.
The 500mg you get from Qualia Mind isn’t going to have any discernible effect on your cognitive function, your mood, or your energy levels.
Your body isn’t really going to notice it.
Even if 500mg did constitute a serious dose of Carnitine, it isn’t clear what Neurohack Collective think it is going to achieve.
Carnitine doesn’t have any nootropic properties to speak of.
Like Mucuna Puriens, we can’t find any proof that it boosts focus, memory, clarity, or mood.
There’s no independent scientific evidence, no strong anecdotal support – nothing.
That’s 600mg in total then that we’ve identified as being useless.
600mg that you’re paying for.
Qualia Mind Side Effects – Is It Safe?
On the side effects front, Qualia Mind is a massive improvement on the original Qualia stack.
They’ve gotten rid of the synthetic brain drugs, the nasty stimulants, and the DHEA (yes, the original Qualia contained a human sex hormone).
For the vast majority of users, Qualia Mind looks like it is highly unlikely to cause serious side effects.
That said, there are a few potential tourble spots.
The most notable is the caffeine and theobromine contents.
We all know that caffeine is an extremely powerful stimulant.
Few substances can give you such a big kick from just 75mg, which is the amount that you will get from an average Americano.
We are also all probably familiar with the common side effect of having a few cups of coffee in quick succession:
- Elevated heart rate
- Light headedness
- Feeling tense
The consequences of consuming very large quantities of caffeine can be serious, and even fatal in extreme cases:
- Heart arrhythmia
- Severe headaches
- Profuse sweating
However, we only get 90mg of caffeine from Qualia Mind.
This isn’t a problem by itself, but you really need to think carefully about how much caffeine you already consume in the day and decide if it is wise to add in another 90mg of purified caffeine.
This problem is compounded by the presence of theobromine.
This is a very weak stimulant found naturally in cocoa. Many people say it works like caffeine, but it is about 10% as potent.
So we wonder why anybody bothers using itinstead of just dosing caffeine properly.
In any case, you should add this to your calculations when working out how much caffeine you can safely add in through supplements.
It is also possible that some of you will have trouble with the large Bacopa monnieri serving in this stack.
Bacopa monnieri isn’t thought to have any serious adverse health effects, but it is known to cause intestinal discomfort when taken in large amounts.
In general, we think 200mg is more than enough to get all the benefits of this wonderful ingredient, so long as a high quality, potent extract is used.
Well we have a high quality, potent extract here, but we also have a very large dose.
Some potential side effects might include:
- Stomach cramps
These side effects are rare, and they are mild when they do occur.
Aside from these things, Qualia Mind is unlikely to cause side effects for 99% of users.
The ingredients are natural. They have almost all been thoroughly studied, and are generally thought to be safe for unsupervised use.
But please remember that WE ARE NOT DOCTORS.
This is not medical advice.
All we are doing here is using our extensive experience to point out potential trouble spots.
Everybody is different, so to definitely ensure your safety going forward, you need to talk to a doctor about your plans to use Qualia Mind.
Qualia Mind Review Conclusion – Great Stack Despite Several Flaws
If you haven’t had time to read our Qualia Mind review in its entirity, we think you should at least check out the main positive and main drawback sections.
If you aren’t going to consider the best and worst aspects of this stack, then there’s no point looking for a review – you’re probably already sold either way!
But for thos eof you that simply don’t have time, we’ll try to condense the above into a few lines of text.
Despite several problems, Qualia Mind is a quality nooropic stack.
We believe that it is capable of delivering on the promises made by Neurohacker Collective.
Users can therefore expect enhanced focus, improved memory function, and long-term brain support.
The Qualia Mind formula uses a unique combination of effective, proven nootropics. Some of these ingredients are rarely found all together in a single stack.
However, it is far from perfect.
It still needs to be cycled – you need to take at least a week off every 3 weeks.
This was one of our main issues with the original Qualia nootropic stack, and that hasn’t changed.
It also contains ingredients with no nootropic properties.
On the whole though, this is a major step up from the original Qualia formulation. The main issues (side effects) have been taken care of.
A great product from Neurohacker Collective. Not the best but the market is still better off for it.
