ProFuel Brainmax Review Summary
This isn’t a bad nootropic at all. It certainly has its problems. For one thing, Brainmax doesn’t look suitable for long-term, consistent supplementation. The 100mg of caffeine per serving rules that out. It is not your go-to daily stack. That means the Bacopa monnieri content is a little pointless – bacopa is something you need to take every day for several weeks to really see good results. The rest of the formula isn’t really geared towards short-term cognitive enhancement either.
However, it does provide a healthy dose of Ginkgo biloba, and the generous serving of Bacopa can’t really be argued with – it is more than you get in other stacks. If you don’t consume any other caffeine, then 100mg first thing in the morning might actually be fine for you. For most users though, we wouldn’t recommend it. Overall, we think there are better stacks out there for total cognitive enhancement.
Where To Buy Brainmax
Brainmax can be bought directly from the ProFuel website. We always recommend buying directly from the manufacturer when possible.
Full ProFuel Brainmax Review
ProFuel Brainmax is one of the most popular nootropics in Germany. As far as we know it hasn’t been on the market for very long. But it has already managed to establish itself as one of the leaders. Plenty of people are looking for information on this product every single day. ProFuel are not a very well-known manufacturer globally, but they seem to have a fairly good reputation in Germany. They have a wide range of products all geared towards performance optimization.
So what is Brainmax supposed to do?
Who is it designed for?
As you can see from the bottle, Brainmax is described as a “health & wellbeing” supplement.
More specifically, the bottle tells users that they can expect the following key benefits:
- Enhanced concentration
- Increased “ingenuity”
- Optimized brain function
Sounds like a comprehensive, full-spectrum nootropic.
Generally speaking, we like it when nootropics take a holistic approach to improving cognitive performance. Supplements designed to give you a brief spike in mental energy can be effective, but they don’t produce the kind of results you can achieve with more long-term, subtle stacks.
According to the ProFuel website, Brainmax is “a high-quality dietary supplement, which provides for improved concentration, increased insight and optimized brain function, making it ideal for intensive learning and working phases.”
Sounds good to us!
But how much of this is true, and how much is just hot air?
Lots of nootropics claim to do these things.
Only a handful come through on their promises.
Does Brainmax really work?
How does it compare to the likes of Mind Lab Pro and Akua Life Neuro-Stack?
Is it safe? What sort of side effects are likely to occur?
In our detailed and impartial review below, we answer all of these questions and more. We put the formula under the microscope and see what the latest scientific papers have to say about the ingredients. In the end, we’ll tell you what we think of this stack as a whole. If you have any questions, or you want to recommend a product for a review, let us know in the comments!
Formula Analysis
Let’s take a look at the Brainmax formula:
That’s quite an interesting formula.
It is rare to see nootropic ingredients like Bacopa monnieri and Ginkgo biloba combined with so many sources of caffeine.
Normally, supplements designed to give you a sharp increase in energy and focus will use a big dose of a cholinergic with caffeine.
Supplements designed to promote long-term, steady improvements in cognitive function will utilize ingredients like Bacopa monnieri and Ginkgo biloba.
The two don’t really work well together.
All in all, we think this formula is very confused. It tries to be both long and short-term focused, but in the end it isn’t optimal for either.
Not a very effective nootropic. Much better stacks are available.
Main Problem – Confused Formula
The Brainmax formula falls foul of the same mistake that many other nootropics have made before it.
Put simply, it tries to be two different supplements at once.
In trying to do two things at once, it does neither properly.
More specifically, Brainmax is trying to boost your short term focus and mental energy while also promoting long-term brain function.
You really have to be clever when doing both of these things at the same time. Unfortunately, ProFuel haven’t been clever enough, and they’ve got the balance all wrong.
A stack that contains as much caffeine as this isn’t really suitable for consistent, daily supplementation.
We don’t think it is conducive to health to start your day off, every single day, with 100mg of pure caffeine.
Of course, if you don’t really consume any other caffeine, then this might not be an issue. But we think most of you will be drinking a fair amount of tea and coffee every day as it is.
An extra caffeine influx might be necessary if you’re burning the midnight oil to meet a deadline, but it isn’t something you want to do every day (more on this in ‘side effects’).
This is a real problem, because Bacopa monnieri is only really effective when consumed every single day for several weeks.
It takes time to build up in the system. It gradually enhances memory function, with the effects becoming more pronounced as time goes on.
It doesn’t have much of an immediate effect – taking Bacopa monnieri as a one off isn’t going to do anything for your mental performance at all.
So clearly, the formula is left not doing very much of anything.
The 100mg of caffeine will increase your focus and motivation, but there aren’t any ingredients to actually increase the quality of your focus, your mental clarity, or short-term memory function.
The ingredients capable of improving your cognitive function in a deep, meaningful way can’t take effect because of the use of stimulants.
Not a balanced formula at all.
ProFuel have got this all wrong.

Side Effects
Obviously, the caffeine content is a concern here.
100mg of caffeine is roughly what you would get from a large, fresh brewed black coffee.
For some of you, that wont sound like a big deal.
But taking this much caffeine in a purified form, in a single shot, can definitely cause side effects regardless of how strong you think your tolerance is.
You also need to bare in mind your existing caffeine intake. 100mg may not sound like much, but added on to an existing intake of 300mg per day, and it can make a huge difference.
Common side effects of caffeine consumption include, but are not limited to:
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Irritability
- Anxiety
- Hypertension
- Dizziness
- Shortness of breath
Acute caffeine overdose can be fatal. This is rare, but it has happened.
You must take this powerful stimulant seriously!
We are not doctors, and this is not medical advice. This is simply an overview of the most obvious side effect risks in our opinion. It is based on our own experience and our own research. It is absolutely VITAL that you do your own research and talk to a qualified health professional before you use any of these supplements. Just because a supplement is natural does not mean it is necessarily safe.Remember
Brainmax Review Conclusion – Is It Right For You?
We don’t think this is a very effective nootropic.
It is neither a short-term focus booster nor a long-term daily nootropic.
In trying to be both of these things at once, it ends up being nothing.
The best ingredients need to be taken consistently over the long term to be truly effective. But in our opinion the caffeine content makes daily, long-term supplementation impossible (for most users, anyway).
If you want a short-term, immediate but infrequent “pick me up”, opt for a stack more focused on delivering that. Something with a sizable cholinergic content is best.
If you want total cognitive enhancement, avoid stimulants and opt for a broad spectrum nootropic.
We have reviewed hundreds of nootropics and this supplement is still the most impressive. Our review team used this product for months and all experienced:
- Heightened focus
- Enhanced memory function
- More mental energy
- Better mental performance under stress
