NOW Foods Ocu Support Review Summary
This vision enhancer contains some very good ingredients which should contribute to improved visual acuity, better night vision, and better overall eye health. It should also help mitigate the damage done by harmful blue light – a serious contributing factor to macular degeneration.
However, a few things really let this product down. For one thing, some of the doses are too low; ideally we’d like to see twice as much Zeaxanthin, if not four times as much! There’s also quite a bit of dead weight in here. You aren’t going to get much eye sight enhancement from green tea extract or from some of the vitamins and minerals. Maybe NOW Foods included them because they sound healthy – we don’t know. But eye benefits from these ingredients will be non-existent.
Where To Buy NOW Ocu Support
You can buy all NOW Foods supplements from their official online store.
Detailed NOW Ocu Support Review
NOW Foods are one of the most popular supplement brands in Europe, and possibly even the world. They sell such a wide range of products that visitors to their official website are often surprised: pre-biotics, amino acids, beauty treatments, fortified cooking oils…they even have pet supplements!
So most of you will probably already be pretty familiar with this brand. They’re reputable, and they clearly have no plans to disappear into the night with your money.
So what is NOW Ocu Support all about exactly?
Who is it designed for?
The bottle states that this product “supports healthy vision”. It also states that it “helps maintain macular health”. You’ll notice how many vision enhancers emphasize macular health. That’s because macular degeneration is extremely common – it is one of the most common and preventable causes of sight loss.
The official website gives us a more comprehensive list of benefits we can expect from using NOW Ocu Support:
- Supports macular pigment density
- Protects against free radicals produced by sunlight exposure
- Helps maintain key visual functions
So clearly this is a stack all about eye health.
It is primarily designed to help keep your eyes functional for as long as possible.
That sounds great to us.
The question is; does it really work?
Is NOW Ocu Support a good choice for people looking to enhance their vision?
Is it safe? Will it cause side effects?

NOW Ocu Support Formula
Let’s take a closer look at the NOW Ocu Support formula:
This is an interesting formula.
There are some very good ingredients in here. Together, they can help prevent eye sight degradation and provide significant support for healthy, lasting vision.
So it looks like NOW Ocu Support will deliver on its promises of helping maintain healthy vision in the long-run.
There are some things we would change about this stack, however.
There’s some dead weight here – ingredients that don’t give you any benefits regarding eye sight or eye health.
Some doses could also be a lot more substantial.
Let’s go through the main benefits and main problems in more detail.
- Contains some good ingredients
- High quality extracts
The biggest strength of NOW Ocu Support is that it uses some excellent ingredients. These have been scientifically proven to support long-term visual function, as well as actually enhancing eye sight from baseline.
For example, the biggest ingredient here is Bilberry Fruit Extract.
The humble bilberry has one very important property when it comes to enhancing vision; it contains a huge concentration of anthocyanidins.
These water-soluble pigments have some fascinating properties. As this paper explains, “scientific studies, such as cell culture studies, animal models, and human clinical trials, show that anthocyanidins and anthocyanins possess antioxidative and antimicrobial activities, improve visual and neurological health, and protect against various non-communicable diseases.”
They have been shown to improve night vision and contrast sensitivity, as well as inducing micro-capillary formation.
A high quality bilberry extract is therefore an absolutely crucial addition to any stack that seeks to promote long-term eye health.
Plenty of anthocyanins should be in any stack seeking to enhance night vision, contrast sensitivity, and eye blood flow.
That’s exactly what we get from NOW Ocu Support. A nice big dose of Bilberry Extract and a solid 25% anthocyanin content.
- Low doses
- Useless Ingredients
Despite the use of good ingredients in NOW Ocu Support, some are seriously let down by poor dosing.
For example, this vision enhancer contains Zeaxanthin.
This is a carotenoid found in very high concentrations in the eye’s macula region.
It plays an absolutely crucial role in helping to filter out harmful blue light, thereby preventing gradual eye degradation over the long-term.
Zeaxanthin supplementation has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of developing acute macular degeneration – a common preventable cause of blindness.
However, the dose we get from each serving of NOW Ocu Support is unusually low for modern vision enhancers.
We would expect to see 1mg per daily serving as a minimum – and that is ONLY when accompanied by 10mg of lutein.
With less lutein, we’d want to see 2mg of Zeaxanthin.
We also think that NOW Ocu Support contains too many ingredients that don’t really provide any benefits.
One may argue that these ingredients have general health benefits. But if you are purchasing a stack because it is sold as a “vision support” supplement, it stands to reason that you want onyl those things that aid your vision!
Take green tea extract, for example.
To our knowledge, green tea extract supplementation has never been shown to enhance visual performance.
It doesn’t improve visual acuity.
It has never been shown to protect the eyes from sun damage.
It may improve the body’s overall anti-oxidant profile, but that’s about it.
This benefit doesn’t justify its inclusion in a supplement explicitly designed to enhance vision.
The same is true of many other ingredients in NOW Ocu Support: many of the B vitamins do nothing for eye sight. Nor do some of the minerals.
We don’t like paying for anything that doesn’t do precisely what the product says it does on the label.
NOW Foods may think it’s a good thing to add in extra, health-boosting ingredients. But we like to spend our money in a more targeted fashion.
NOW Ocu Support Side Effects
Like most vision enhancers, the risk of side effects from NOW Ocu Support is minimal.
It doesn’t contain any synthetic drugs, potent stimulants, or anything of the sort.
It doesn’t contain any ingredients known to cause serious side effects.
The ingredients it does use have been widely used for many years.
They have been rigorously tested they have not been found to pose serious, immediate health risks.
So no major, obvious risks jump right out at us.
But of course, you need to remember that we are not doctors. This is not medical advice, and nor is it an exhaustive list of all possible dangers.
You need to do your own research and make sure that your own allergies, pre-existing medical conditions, etc do not make this stack dangerous FOR YOU.
Final Verdict – NOW Foods Ocu Support – Yes or No?
After doing a thorough NOW Foods Ocu Support review, we can tell you that this is not a bad vision enhancer at all.
It contains some high quality ingredients, such as a potent Bilberry Extract and a good sevring of Lutein.
However, it is let down in a few areas.
It contains a fair bit of dead weight – ingredients that don’t give us any benefits we’re looking for here.
We don’t like paying for dead weight, and we like to keep the number of substances we consume to a minimum.
The serving size of the Zeaxanthin could also be much better.
However, these problems do not make NOW Foods Ocu Support a bad vision enhancer.
It just means that it isn’t the best either.
