Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp Review Summary
This is easily one of the most popular vision enhancers on the market (at the time of writing), and it deserves to be. While it could be significantly improved, Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp has a solid formula. It provides some of the best natural vision enhancers at good doses. The vitamin stack provides plenty of Vitamin A, and there’s very little dead weight.
The only way it could be better is if it contained a few more proven vision enhancers. A little Astaxanthin to mix things up and cover another base would be ideal. Some saffron would also make it a lot better. But this is really splitting hairs – a lack of these ingredients isn’t really a “problem”. A good vision enhancer that could benefit anybody looking for enhanced vision in the long-run.
Where To Buy Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp
We always recommend buying direct from the manufacturer.
Detailed Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp Review
Irwin Naturals are makers of several highly popular supplements. The majority of their products are single-ingredient herb and plant extracts. However, they also produce quite a number of stacks aimed at enhancing everything from brain energy to mood to digestion.
Vision Sharp is their dedicated vision enhancing stack (in case you couldn’t guess from the name).
But what is it designed to do exactly?
Who is it supposed to be for?
The bottle clearly states that this stack provides “powerful daily protection to support and maintain healthy visual function”.
If your vision is important to you, be it for your job, your hobby, or you just want to avoid the most serious eye sight degradation that comes with getting older, this could be the supplement for you.
The official Vision Sharp merchant page gives us more detail on this. We’re told that the formula provides the following core benefits:
- Support for light and color-determining parts of the eye
- Supports healthy eye vascular system
- Optimum eye health and vision protection
This sounds like a great stack to us.
But many manufacturers make these claims about their products.
We need to find out if Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp can actually deliver or not.
Is it safe?
Is it the right supplement for you?
Is there a better option out there?
In our detailed Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp review, we’ll answer all of these questions in as much detail as possible. We’ll begin by holding the formula under the light and seeing if it stands up to the promises made by the manufacturer. We’ll also look at the main dangers, and see if the ends justify the risks.
Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp Formula
Here is the Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp formula:
That’s quite a substantial formula.
We have more ingredients here than you will typically find in a vision enhancer.
That’s not a bad thing; it just normally indicates that there’s lots of dead weight in the formula.
That’s not the case with Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp though. This is a pretty damn good formula. There’s lots of good ingredients in here, and the doses are great on the whole.
Most users will definitely get something out of this stack.
That said, we definitely think Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp could be better. It is missing some scientifically-proven vision enhancers. These ingredients could help improve your visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in the short term, beyond baseline.
But that is really splitting hairs – this is a good stack and it should live up to its promises for 90% of users.
- Generous doses
- Good range of ingredients
Without a doubt the main benefit of Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp is the generous doses it provides in each daily serving.
For instance, just look at that Bilberry Extract serving: 320mg!
With a 25% anthocyanidin content, that gives us 80mg of potent, eye-protecting, vision-enhancing anthocyanidins.
All vision enhancers should provide some highly potent source of anthocyanidins. Whether it’s Bilberry Fruit, Blackcurrant Extract, or something else, every vision enhancer needs some source of anthocyanidin.
Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp gives us more than enough to enjoy all of the benefits associated with these incredible pigments.
We also get absolutely ideal doses of lutein and zeaxanthin.
These two carotenoids help preserve your macular pigment. Maintaining a dense macular pigment is crucial for maintaining good eye health over the long-term. Your macula acts in many ways as ‘internal sunglasses’; it filters out the harmful blue light produced by the sun, computers, and LED screens.
As we spend longer and longer looking at blue light-producing screens, preserving your macula is becoming increasingly important.
The 10mg of lutein and 2mg of zeaxanthin we get in this stack is more than enough to improve night vision, contrast sensitivity, and reduce the risk of various eye disorders like cataracts and AMD.
- Missing some potent ingredients
- Some dead weight could be cut
The only thing really holding this stack back is the fact that it is missing some well-known and extremely potent vision enhancers.
For example, a simple addition which could make this formula much better is saffron.
Many manufacturers don’t utilize this powerful vision enhancer purely because it is very expensive by weight.
Saffron is incredibly rich in anti-oxidants. This helps prevent free radical damage to various parts of the eye, particularly the retina.
Studies have also found that saffron dramatically increases light flicker sensitivity. This study, for example, found that saffron supplementation was able to improve flicker sensitivity in people with Acute Macular Degeneration.
Another study found that saffron improves visual acuity in general. Again, this study looked at people with AMD, but we don’t see why the same mechanism wouldn’t improve vision in otherwise healthy people.
This is just one example of an ingredient that Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp is missing – and one which would make the stack just that little bit more complete.
There’s also a fair bit of dead weight in this stack which could easily be cut to make it more focused.
Getting rid of useless ingredients not only increases value for money, but it will also reduce the amount of substances you take per day.
Consuming supplements can improve your life in numerous ways, but you don’t want to be taking more herbal extracts and concentrates than you absolutely need to.
That’s why we don’t like stacks that have any dead weight whatsoever.
For instance, the Citrus content might confer lots of bioflavonoids, which are good for overall health and longevity, but it isn’t going to make much difference to your eye sight or to your eye health specifically.
Your vision isn’t going to get anything from more Vitamin C.
Your eye will not benefit a great deal from more Vitamin E.
Cutting these ingredients would allow the manufacturer to bring down the price without making the stack less effective.
And as we said, if it doesn’t help your visual acuity, night sight, or eye health, it has no business being in a vision enhancer!
Final Verdict – Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp – Yes or No?
Final verdict? Not a bad eye health and visual performance supplement.
The Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp merchant page makes a big deal out of the health supporting aspect of this stack. But that is only half the story.
Vision Sharp contains excellent servings of Bilberry Fruit Extract, Lutein and Zeaxanthin.
Through different mechanisms, these ingredients will contribute to better overall eye health, a lower risk of experiencing AMD or cataracts, and significantly improved eye function.
We mean eye function generally here, because these ingredients are thought to enhance multiple different aspects of vision: acuity, night vision, flicker sensitivity, contrast sensitivity, and glare recovery.
We also have some Ginkgo biloba to improve ocular blood flow, and some Vitamin A to promote overall eye performance through different mechanisms.
All in all, this is a solid vision supplement.
But it could be better.
There’s some dead weight in here that we would definitely remove. After all, if it doesn’t enhance our eye sight or ocular health, we don’t want it in a vision enhancer.
It is also missing some key natural vision boosters. These are ingredients you might find in other stacks, but which are not common due to expense and the difficulty of procurement.
By adding in something like saffron or astaxanthin, Irwin Naturals Vision Sharp would be a more complete, well-rounded supplement.
But nothing is perfect. This is still not a bad option for someone looking to improve their visual performance both in the short term and moving forward.
