Bausch + Lomb Ocuvite Adult 50+ Review Summary
We can’t figure out how this product got so popular, other than the fact it has been on the market for a while and it has been marketed well. But quality wise, it just can’t compete with today’s top vision enhancers. Ocuvite Adult 50+ is just a collection of vitamins and minerals with a couple of extra ingredients thrown in on top – a small dose of lutein, some zeaxanthin, and some omega-3 oil.
Ocuvite Adult 50+ isn’t going to make a huge difference to your eye function, or help safeguard your eye’s long-term health. It isn’t going to do a great deal at all. If you’re serious about improving your visual acuity, reducing eye strain, and protecting your visual function for the long-term, better options are available. No doubt about that.
Where To Buy Ocuvite Adult 50+
Ocuvite Adult 50+ is available from the Bausch + Lomb online store. This is the best place to get it in our opinion.
Detailed Bausch + Lomb Ocuvite Adult 50+ Review
Bausch + Lomb are quite a big name in the supplement industry. They are particularly well known for their extensive range of Ocuvite vision enhancers. This review will focus on Ocuvite Adult 50+; a variant of their vision enhancer line that is specifically designed for older people.
So let’s get into it.
What is Ocuvite Adult 50+ suposed to do exactly?
If we look at the official Bausch + Lomb Ocuvite Adult 50+ merchant site, we see that it is designed to deliver the following key benefits:
- Replenishes eye nutrients that you lose as you age
- Supports eye health
- All-in-one daily dose
It seems then that this stack is designed exclusively to help keep your eyes healthy and functioning properly as you get older.
This is not a bad thing at all. It just sounds like this isn’t the vision enhancer for you if you want to improve your visual acuity, night vision, and overall eye function NOW, in the short term.
So if you’re a gamer, a programmer, a pro-golfer, or whatever, then this stack hasn’t been designed for you. But if you’re in your 50’s and your eyes are starting to deteriorate, then Ocuvite Adult 50+ might be absolutely ideal for you.
That is, if it works.
Does Ocuvite Adult 50+ really help keep your eyes healthy?
What are these nutrients that the eye loses as you get older?
Does it enhance vision?
Find out by reading our full review below. We start, as in every review, by dissecting the formula. We look at ingredients, doses, and potential side effects. In the end, we’ll give you our final verdict on this popular vision supplement.
Ocuvite Adult 50+ Formula
Let’s take a look at the Ocuvite Adult 50+ formula:
We’re obviously a little disappointed by this.
We know that Bausch + Lomb make it clear that Ocuvite Adult 50+ is just designed to replenish some lost nutrients.
But we still expected something a little more substantial.
All we have here are some run-of-the-mill vitamins and minerals coupled with some low doses of standard vision enhancers.
Overall, we’re not impressed.
- Lutein dosed very low
- No berry extracts
- No saffron
- Not much of anything!
We’ve obviously skipped the usual strengths section because, quite frankly, there isn’t a lot here that we think it’s worth talking about.
Even the ingredients that we do like here are dosed too low for us to get excited about them.
For example, look at the tiny dose of lutein.
Lutein is easily one of the best ingredients to include in a natural vision enhancer. This is true regardless of whether you are an older person looking for some nutritional support or a young software engineer looking to reduce eye strain and improve your eye sight in various ways.
Lutein reinforces your macular pigment. The macula acts as a kind of internal blue light filter in the eye – not unlike a pair of internal sunglasses. Blue light is very high energy; it causes small amounts of damage to the eye, which impairs eye sight over time.
Bolstering your macular pigment will help keep your eyes functioning properly, as well as reducing the chances of getting AMD in later life.
Several studies have also shown that lutein improves vision quality, night vision, and several other aspects of visual performance.
However, most studies showing good benefits from lutein supplementation have used 10mg per day and above. We only get 5mg in Ocuvite Adult 50+. For a stack specifically designed for protecting eye sight in later life, that is pretty appalling. Lutein should be here in spades.
We’re also missing many ingredients that should be in a vision enhancer, especially in one explicitly designed for older people.
For instance, Bausch + Lomb give us no berry extracts in Ocuvite Adult 50+.
Things like Back Currant Extract and Bilberry Fruit Extract are often included in vision enhancers because of their immensely powerful antioxidant load, their effect on oxygenation, and their ability to promote rhodopsin production.
This study, for example, showed that Black Currant Extract helped enhance eye sight in low light conditions.
Other studies have shown that such ingredients may help with age-related eye conditions.
But we get none of them from Ocuvite Adult 50+. That’s a serious flaw with this stack. A supplement designed to protect visual function in later life should be overflowing with berry extracts and antioxidants.
Bausch + Lomb Ocutive Adult 50+ Side Effects
One thing that we definitely can’t take away from this product is the fact that side effects are going to be rare, and when they do occur, they’re going to be very mild.
That is true for 99% of you guys anyway. If you have an unusual underlying condition, an unusual diet, or an allergy, it will be different obviously.
But for most users, Ocuvite Adult 50+ isn’t going to cause any problems.
All of the ingredients have been studied in humans and none have ever been found to pose a serious risk to health.
To our knowledge none are thought to even cause noticeable sides.
However, we are not doctors and this is not medical advice!

Final Verdict – Bausch + Lomb Ocuvite Adult 50+ – Should You Use It?
We’re really unimpressed with this stack.
Ocuvite Adult 50+ claims to be designed with older adults in mind.
Yet in reality it is just a vitamin and mineral stack with some low doses of standard vision enhancers thrown on top.
The only interesting ingredients are lutein and zeaxanthin.
As such they should be dosed properly.
But we only get 5mg of lutein instead of the minimum 10mg we think is necessary to see good results.
We could use more zeaxanthin too.
These two ingredients will benefit older people more than anybody, so they really should be here in spades.
A major let down. Bausch + Lomb could have done a lot better here.
