AHEAD Sharp Mind Review Summary
This is a solid nootropic supplement. It provides good ingredients, the doses are right on the money, and it’s a good value purchase. In our opinion, AHEAD Sharp Mind would be a good choice for anybody looking to enhance cognitive function in both the short and long term.
It could be a lot better of course. We could have some more proven nootropics in here targeting different pathways. Side effects are not a major concern, although it does require cycling because of the Huperzine A content. This significantly reduces the efficacy of things like Bacopa monnieri, which really needs to be used consistently for long periods to take full effect. The vitamin stack is welcome but not really anything to get excited about. This is a small issue though. If you are looking for a rapid increase in focus, clarity, and a significant improvement in learning capacity, Sharp Mind is a good option.
Where To Buy AHEAD Sharp Mind
We first came across this stuff on Amazon, but AHEAD Nutrition have their own independent online store. We recommend buying direct whenever you can. As far as we can tell, the website only sells direct to Germany and Austria.
Full AHEAD Sharp Mind Review
AHEAD Sharp Mind has only just come to our attention. As far as we can tell, it is a new nootropic supplement from a recently launched supplement brand. It is made by AHEAD Nutrition. These guys are based in Germany, and their online store sells exclusively to Germany and Austria…for now anyway. They actually have a good range of products on offer; they currently stock a sleep aid, a magnesium stack, a mood complex, and a couple of others.
So what is Sharp Mind supposed to do?
Who is this brain supplement designed for?
As you can see from the bottle, this nootropic is designed for daily use. It is presenting itself as a comprehensive, all-in-one nootropic. It clearly puts an emphasis on focus and memory, which is great; these really are the two most important executive cognitive functions.
According to the website, this stack has the following key selling points:
- Enhances concentration
- Improves memory function
- Vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free
So this sounds like a really good brain supplement. We want improved focus and memory, and it claims to give us those things.
But is any of this true? We’ve certainly had manufacturers making these same claims and not come good on them in the past. In fact, almost all nootropics claim to do these things, yet only about a dozen or so even come close.
Does AHEAD Sharp Mind work?
Is it safe? Will it cause side effects?
How does it compare to other products on the market promising to do the same things?
Find out by reading our full AHEAD Sharp Mind review below. We dissect the formula to see if it can really deliver on the promises made by the manufacturer. We talk about the major health risks, as well as value for money. At the end, we’ll give you our final verdict on this new nootropic stack. If you have any questions, or you want to share your experiences with this product, post in the comments.
AHEAD Sharp Mind Formula
Let’s take a look at the formula and see what’s really going on here:
That is a really solid formula for a natural nootropic.
There are some great ingredients in here. We see a hefty dose of one of the best cholinergics in existence, a good Bacopa monnieri extract, and a very welcome dose of theanine.
The vitamin stack isn’t strictly necessary, but it certainly doesn’t hurt either.
There are several ways in which this nootropic could be improved of course. The fact that it needs to be cycled is a disappointment, and there are some key ingredients missing (considering this is meant to be a daily supplement).
Compared to some of the best nootropics on the market right now, it doesn’t quite make the cut. Better end results and better value for money can be found elsewhere.
But overall, this looks like a good brain supplement. Most users will get a lot out of it, mostly in the short-term.
What We Like
- Very large dose of Alpha-GPC
- Good Bacopa monnieri extract
This is a very simple supplement. It doesn’t actually contain many active nootropic ingredients. But the ones it does contain are well dosed and extremely potent.
The main strength of this stack is the Alpha-GPC content.
Alpha-GPC is one of the most effective and reliable cholinergics there is; it rapidly raises choline availability in the brain, which leads to more acetylcholine synthesis, and as a result, more raw brain power.
Each daily serving of Sharp Mind provides 400mg of Alpha-GPC. This is way more than the average 200mg serving we see from most high quality focus supplements. Even the most potent products that use this stuff don’t usually contain more than 300mg.
Supplementing with Alpha-GPC has been shown to improve concentration and memory function in multiple different user groups. It works reliably well for almost everybody.
We think anything above about 300mg will provide diminishing returns. In our experience, you’ll get pretty much the same effects from 400mg as you will from 300mg, and not much more tha you would from 250mg.
For sure, most studies showing good benefits from Alpha-GPC have used around 300mg.
But it’s still great to see this ingredient dosed properly. It doesn’t have a very high side effect incidence rate, it’s well tolerated, and it has been thoroughly tested at this dose.
Alpha-GPC has many other benefits aside from raising choline, so the large serving here is most welcome!
What We Don’t Like
- Missing some staple ingredients
- Needs cycling
There are certainly lots of ways in which this stack could be better.
For starters, it needs to be cycled on and off every 3-4 weeks due tot he Huperzine A content.
Huperzine A turns off the brain’s ability to get rid of excess, used acetylcholine. This causes a rapid build-up of acetylcholine in the brain.
Now, this is great at first. Acetylcholine is a very important neurotransmitter. It is involved in focus, learning, and physical reactions.
But as with all things, too much of a good thing can be counter-productive. So it is with acetylcholine. Too much acetylcholine causes a rapid loss of focus, headaches, and confusion (more on this in the side effects).
So, you need to take regular breaks while using Huperzine A.
This is quite a serious problem because things like Bacopa monnieri and Alpha-GPC actually work best when they’re taken consistently for long periods of time.
All of the studies showing the best results from Bacopa monnieri – the biggest improvements in memory function – have lasted for about 12 weeks. The biggest results have almost always become manifest after 6 weeks.
So taking a week or two’s break every 21 days isn’t ideal – it diminishes the effectiveness of the rest of the stack.
Another serious flaw with AHEAD Sharp Mind is the fact that it isn’t very long-term focused. It is missing some of the key, staple nootropic substances that we look for in every serious daily brain supplement.
It is missing some of the ingredients that we look at as the backbone of a modern nootropic stack.
It doesn’t contain anything to really maximize long-term brain development and neuroplasticity – a necessity these days.
There’s no Lion’s Mane Mushroom.
No Ginkgo Biloba.
There isn’t any serious anti-oxidant content, nor any powerful anti-inflammatory agents.
These are all necessities in a daily, full-spectrum nootropic, which is exactly what AHEAD Sharp Mind makes itself out to be. All of the best once-daily supplements today provide these things, and in good amounts.
Side Effects – Is Sharp Mind Safe?
Sharp Mind doesn’t look like a particularly dangerous focus and memory supplement to us.
We can’t see anything in this formula that gives us real cause for concern, aside from the Huperzine A that is.
As explained above, Huperzine A needs to be cycled or else excessive amounts of acetylcholine will build up in the brain. If you don’t cycle Hup A properly, then side effects are inevitable. Those side effects will just continue to get worse until you take a break.
Common side effects include:
- Muscle cramps
- Inability to focus
- Low mood
- Loss of motivation
We recommend starting with a 2 week cycle of Huperzine A to see how you go, followed by a week break. If you don’t experience any side effects, then you can progress to a 3-4 week cycle followed by a 7 day break. After 3 or 4 cycles, we recommend taking a longer break from Huperzine A.
There’s no exact ideal cycle length; you just have to monitor side effects closely and go by feel. But don’t try to take Huperzine A continuously. It wont end well!
Other than that, there’s nothing about this formula that gives us cause for concern.
The coupling of 400mg of Alpha-GPC and Huperzine A might be a bit much for some people. Acetylcholine levels will get high very quickly.
Just monitor yourself carefully and if you start to experience any side effects, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention.
Remember, we don’t know your own unique medical history. We’re speaking generally here. Your personal circumstances will affect the safety of this stack greatly. This is why you NEED to talk to a doctor.
Please remember that we aren’t doctors, and this isn’t medical advice. We are just pointing out the main risk factors according to our experience and our own research. Do your own research thoroughly and talk to your doctor before you use any new supplements. Do not try to treat cognitive decline with nootropics; if you think you’re experiencing cognitive impairment you need proper medical care.

AHEAD Sharp Mind Review Summary – Is It Right For You?
In our opinion, this is a good natural nootropic supplement.
It provides good doses of some excellent, proven natural focus and memory enhancers.
It could definitely be better, that’s for sure. It’s lacking many of the key, core ingredients that are found in most high quality, daily nootropics today. It doesn’t focus very much on neuroplasticity, which isn’t great. The fact that it needs to be cycled is also a serious weakness.
But overall, AHEAD Sharp Mind looks like a solid product. Most users will get real results from this nootropic. At least in the short-term.
